Veris Awarded Subsurface Utility Location Works for Cross River Rail Project

Veris is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the sub surface utility location works for the Southern Portal, Woolloongabba and Roma Street section of the exciting Cross River Rail project in South East Queensland.

Cross River Rail is a 10.2km new rail line including 5.9km of tunnel under the Brisbane River and the Brisbane CBD. The project will include four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street, as well as two upgraded stations at Dutton Park and Exhibition.

By unlocking a bottleneck at the core of South East Queensland’s transport network, Cross River Rail will allow more trains to run more often, enabling a turn-up-and-go transport system for the entire region.

Early works, which will include survey work by Veris, are underway at Woolloongabba and along the rail corridor. Works such as surveying, sub surface utility investigations began in March.  The Early Works Program also includes preparing the site between Vulture Street and Stanley Street in Woolloongabba which, once cleared, will become the staging location for the Tunnel Boring Machines to dig the twin tunnel. Demolition of the Goprint building on this site has already been completed, with the Landcentre building and the South Brisbane Dental Hospital set for demolition this year.

Veris is proud to be a part of this exceptional project, continuing our long history of working with the government and people of Queensland.
