Westlink Power Project
Our Queensland office provided town planning and application advice for the proposed 1000 MGW natural gas-fired low emission Westlink peaking (standby) power plant to be located near Gatton, 90km west of Brisbane.
Designed to respond rapidly to customer’s peak electricity demand, the plant will also be available to respond to emergency situations such as blackouts, or provide backup power when other power stations experience outages. Based on current forecasts, the plant would be expected to run to up to 20 percent of the time.
The proposed Westlink peaking plant will be built in stages, in demand with growing demand for peak electricity.
Gas for the project will be sourced from the gas fields of South-West Queensland and delivered to the site via the existing Roma to Brisbane pipeline.
