Nepean Hospital Redevelopment Stage Two

The Nepean Redevelopment project is enhancing hospital services and integrated community health facilities for the Penrith and Blue Mountains communities, bringing modern, expanded healthcare options to the region. To support the design of Stage Two, Veris was engaged to provide detailed surveying services that would underpin the project’s development and ensure data accuracy across a variety of essential site features.
Scope
Veris’ scope of work for Stage Two included a range of advanced surveying services to ensure comprehensive data collection and support efficient project planning:
- Topographic Survey of the site area
- BIM modelling (internal & external areas)
- Creation of survey accurate Point Cloud
- Underground and surface utility mapping
Outcomes
Veris' combined approach of traditional surveying techniques with terrestrial 3D laser scanning enabled the efficient capture of detailed data across both surface and subsurface features. Key outcomes included:
- Enhanced Efficiency and Reduced Disruptions: The comprehensive data capture in a single site visit reduced disruptions to ongoing site activities, providing faster access to critical information.
- Consistent and Accurate Deliverables: By capturing a precise and complete dataset, Veris provided consistent deliverables across the entire site, supporting reliable decision-making in the design phase.
- Cost Savings and Pre-emptive Design Solutions: The accurate visualisations created from the point cloud data enabled the design team to identify and resolve potential design issues before construction, minimising costly alterations.
- Detailed Subsurface Utility Mapping: The use of GPR, along with electronic and magnetic detection methods, allowed for the precise mapping of underground utilities, ensuring that all services were identified and marked accurately.
Through a combination of innovative data capture techniques, Veris delivered a topographic survey and 3D model that closely matched the as-built site conditions, supporting the design and development goals of the Nepean Redevelopment project.
