Sunbury Line Upgrade

The $2.1 billion Sunbury Line Upgrade includes various upgrades within the rail corridor extending from Sunbury to Footscray. At Sunbury Station, the rail improvements include platform extensions, train stabling modifications and rail track and power upgrades.

Veris was engaged by the Rail Infrastructure Alliance (RIA), which consists of CPB Contractors, John Holland, and AECOM, to deliver a 3D model of Sunbury Station for architectural and engineering design purposes. Veris conducted 3D laser scanning of architectural, structural and civil elements of the Station and surrounds, with the data captured used to develop Revit and 3D CAD models.

The Veris scope of work included:

  • Mobile Laser Scanning
  • Terrestrial Laser Scanning
  • Development of Revit and 3D CAD models
Highlights
  • Over 245 scans captured combining both mobile and terrestrial laser scanning methods.
  • Seamless 3D model inclusive of all buildings, bridges, ramps, rail corridor and gantries.
  • 3D model used as a powerful visualisation and collaboration tool supporting design efficiencies on project.
