Embracing equity, together
This International Women’s Day (IWD), Veris collectively participated in a virtual MS Teams meeting, highlighting stories from a number of our people in various roles. In line with this years’ theme of #EmbracingEquity, we heard from both females and males in our team.
We listened to Mina Jahanshahi, Jade Ockhuysen, Jessica Hodges, Najia Ali, Julie Stanley, Danae Sinclair-Clift, Kate Norris, Gavin Hassett and Marius van der Plas who each shared their own stories, with the session organised and hosted by Sonya Gomes People Lead – East.
It was incredibly moving to hear the stories and experiences of our people and how far the workforce, in particular, the surveying and spatial sciences industry has come.
Our Managing Director and CEO Michael Shirley spoke at the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) Women in Spatial Breakfast, touching on some of the challenges we see in attracting more women to the spatial sector, and what we are doing at Veris.
The celebrations continued throughout the day, with shared refreshments in each of the offices whilst IWD inspired Ted Talks were played to encourage conversations around gender equity.
Overall, it was a day where our people could be involved, be inspired, and be educated.
After all, the path towards gender equity is a path we all walk together.
