Michael Shirley, Chief Executive Officer
Dr Michael Shirley has over 28 years of industry experience, leading and engaging complex teams whilst delivering business growth and strong commercial outcomes. Dr Shirley has worked across the natural resources, environment, water, buildings and infrastructure sectors across Australia and globally.
Michael has held senior executive roles for leading organisations including; Sinclair Knight Merz, Jacobs and most recently Aurecon where he was the Managing Director Clients. Michael has a demonstrated track record of strategic and operational leadership, delivering outstanding long-term business growth.
Steve Harding, Chief Financial Officer
Steve is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years of finance and corporate advisory experience including having held senior leadership roles with professional services and advisory firms PwC and KPMG.
Steve has a strong track record in corporate finance including significant capital markets, merger and acquisition transaction advisory and debt arranging experience in the mid-cap industrials sectors. Steve holds a Bachelor of Business and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
Ron Pettit, Executive Manager - People and Culture
Ron has over 20 years' experience in human resource roles in the resources, mining, telecommunications, engineering and construction sectors. He is a strategic and commercially aware human resources professional who positively shapes and influences teams and cultures. He has experience in talent identification, succession planning, developing new business models and advising senior executives on strategy.
Ron was previously awarded the National Human Resources Manager of the Year Award in Australia. He was also a finalist across Australasia in the APAC Conscious Business Leadership Awards in 2016 and has been a guest speaker at the HR Summit over many years.
Roze Maravillas, General Manager Marketing and Communications
Roze has more than 18 years’ experience in the oil & gas, mining and resources, construction and engineering industries. Roze has held senior leadership positions with AusGroup, Barminco, AECOM and Leighton Contractors with her main responsibility being the development and successful implementation of Marketing and Communications strategies and programs.
Roze’s career is underpinned by a strong focus on facilitating business strategies. She has a demonstrated skill set in the areas of strategic marketing, corporate communications and public relations, as well as a background in change management and business transformation.
Richard Ebbs, General Manager Clients and Markets
Richard is a business executive with extensive experience in the technical professional services sector in operations and client management specifically in the engineering, economics, planning, spatial and survey sectors. Over his career he has specialised in the development and implementation of client market strategies to achieve lasting and valued relationships.
Richard’s most immediate past role was with the Jacobs global engineering practice where he worked for over 18 years. Past roles have also included roles in Europe with the Commission for the European Communities and the OECD, both of which he continues to engage and explore joint research initiatives.
Nathan Quadros, Digital and Spatial Business Lead
Nathan is a highly qualified spatial scientist and business executive with experience providing expert advice across Australia-Pacific to governments, industry and the World Bank. Nathan’s PhD in remote-sensing led him to manage a United Nations award-winning project on sea level rise capacity building across the Pacific. He has also used his technical expertise to establish national quality assurance standards for LiDAR, drone imagery and marine surveys.
More recently the achievement of an MBA has enabled Nathan to be deeply involved in driving digital and spatial technologies to support business strategy. Nathan’s experience in building teams at the forefront of spatial analytics and technology has enabled him to provide strategic advice and solution designs to tackle a variety of complex challenges.
Joshua Bovell, Chief Digital Officer
Joshua is a results driven technology executive with over 25 years' experience leading complex information systems and communications initiatives, managing operational environments, and executing programs all with an underlying focus on business and economic value.
With a passion for transformation through technology leverage and innovation, Joshua has been responsible for the successful delivery of hundreds of initiatives and projects across a broad range of sectors including mining, oil and gas, waste management, transport, health, education, government.
Steve Pearson, National Commercial Manager
Steve has over 25 years’ experience in operational and commercial management. Prior to joining Veris, Steve was the Commercial Director – Clients at Aurecon, and has also held senior management positions at SKM/Jacobs.
Prior to being transferred to Australia by SKM in 2003, Steve spent 14 years in Asia, running a 200-person company that he co-owned before selling to SKM in 2001. During this period he worked extensively across South East Asia on projects for core clients.
James Stenslude, Interim National HSEQ Manager
James has over 20 years’ experience in managerial and operational roles across several industries. James has led the achievement of ISO certifications and ensured the ongoing maintenance of Health Safety Environment and Quality (HSEQ) management systems.
In addition, James’ specialist expertise includes accounting, management reporting, business analysis, contract management as well as the maintenance of processes and systems that support these critical business functions. James has a degree in Commerce (Business Finance and Economics) and is CIMA/CPA certified.
Jimmy Duncan, Regional Manager, QLD & NT
Jimmy is an experienced town planner and commercially focused development consultant. He has delivered successful outcomes for clients across Queensland on complex projects in the industrial, retail, tourism, resource and residential sectors.
His current focus is on safety, supporting our talented people, and delivering solutions to clients that exceed expectations.

Brendan Munari, Regional Manager - VIC/SA/TAS
Brendan is a Licensed Surveyor, Senior Project Manager. He is responsible for region-wide Business Development throughout Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
With over 30 years of industry experience working on major infrastructure and urban development projects in Victoria, he provides clients with practical solutions with a strong focus on project delivery and satisfaction. Brendan joined Veris in 2017 after 13 years as SMEC Survey Manager.

Gavin Hassett, Regional Manager – WA
Gavin Hassett has over 25 years of experience in delivering solutions to our clients within the Spatial industry. Challenges within the professional services industry require agile thinking and a team to deliver client outcomes.

Mark Grey, Regional Manager - NSW/ACT
Mark is a surveyor and senior project manager with more than 40 years’ experience in delivering projects to the spatial and engineering sectors. He has a diverse background working both nationally and internationally to provide solutions to clients using the most current technologies and methodologies.
